I would like to tell any new customers about OLM (Serveraday). As these prices are really , super extremely low for a dedicated server. It is not a hoax. I am a customer with them and had my server up in 24 hours after I purchased it. No problems with it at all, no complaints at all. You WILL NOT find a better company out there. Keep up the good work guys!

  2. Matt-Serveraday Says:

Brian - Thanks for the plug, the check is in the mail.. joking, but we love hearing the positive feedback! Glad your happy with your server…

  3. ian Says:

My server’s doing great, too. So far so good!

I haven’t seen an interface that shows me how much bandwidth you think I’m using. I can measure the bandwidth on my machine, but I’d rather see the realtime data for what you’re using to bill me. Is that available to server owners?

  4. Lone Says:

I have been with olm for 7months now.. have had 100% uptime and great customer service and tech support. Will be writing a review on my little blog sometime soon about olm’s services (nothing bad to say here ^_^) I hated my last provider which i was with for nearly 2years. when I have the need for it I will likely be getting another server with olm..

Trust me everyone.. you dont “Get what you pay for” with OLM “you get what you wish you could afford” meaning im getting alot better service and uptime then i feel im paying for.

Shout out to Matt and Kim at OLM thanks guys!

  5. Andy Huang Says:

I’d like to third the notion that OLM / Serveraday is made of sheer win and awesome. I’ve been here for almost 2 months I’d say; and I’ve pre-paid for my server for 2 years already, because I know I’m not going anywhere!

Big thanks to everyone at OLM for running such a great service!

  6. MrNfector Says:

I’ll add my plug to this as well. I’ve had a server with OLM for several months now, and I have yet to have any hardware or networking issues despite the fact that my server is an older model dual P3. It doesn’t look like OLM skimps on hardware costs, and from what I can see they tend to start with good hardware and it lasts. The one time I’ve called I was treated as the sysadmin of my server, and had my question (regarding the recent Debian SSH key vulnerability) answered promptly and completely to my satisfaction. The one manual reboot I’ve needed (my fault entirely) was also handled promptly even though I stated specifically that it was non-critical. I’ve been impressed enough so far that despite my initial doubts based on the price I got for my first server hosted with OLM I’ve been considering a hardware upgrade or possibly a new server, so if a sales rep would like to email me regarding that it may save me some trouble waiting for a deal that offers close to what I want.

tl;dr Good value for the systems on this site. I’ve had 0 problems so far, and the price is right.

  7. Randy Says:

Just wanted to drop a note - I picked up one of the dedicated server a day deals here a little shy of a year ago and have been quite pleased with the service. I have only had one outage, which was announced ahead of time, for a power backup unit replacement in the data center. These guys deliver on what they promise and have been solid so far. Keep up the great work!

  8. Lone Says:

tsd-trader, They do not accept paypal, though if you get the paypal debit card you can use that. and as for the 20$ side deals.. those only happen once is a blue moon and are often sold within 20min of posting

ServerADay/OLM ROCKS! Im going on 10months now and 0zero complaints :)

Thanks Matt and Kim you guys rock!

  9. PogMan- Says:

    Kim,

If you haven’t completed my server yet, you can make it a dual core! LOL! I’ll pay the setup fee if I have to. Hey, can’t blame a guy for trying right? You guys at OLM Rock, Everyone here looking for a server, seriously this is the PLACE TO BE!!! Take it from a customer that has been here for about 5 years now, not only are the servers a great deal, but the customer service and tech support continually exceed my expectations!!! Thanks again OLM/Serveraday, you guys really do ROCK!!!

    -PogMan

  10. Brian T Says:

Well just wanted to update you all. Its been 6 months since I have my server up. No problems at all, even with a cheap , cheap deal. Keep the good work up!!!

  11. Tanveer Says:

Server A Day really rocks. I am currently running two servers with OLM ServerADay for more than 2 years now. And believe me, THE DOWNTIME for their dedicated servers and networks are 0%. If anyone wants to run a site, go for the dedicated servers. You will feel the difference. Thanks Kim for all the support. And Merry Christmas to the ServerADay Team.

  12. Zalfo Says:

Ordered it today. Should be a great swap from my HostGator hosting.

  13. Brian T Says:

Talk about service! This evening I was updating software on my server. It rebooted and hung up on me. It was rebooted and back online. I got an email stating the errors. AWSOME GREAT MONITORING. Well worth the money 100x.

  14. Bob K. Says:

I’d just like to say that I am a very satisified customer and continue to recommand OLM/serveraday to friends and acquintances. You guys are great! I don’t know how you can can provide such good service with such attractive pricing, but keep on doing it!

  15. Silknet Says:

I have been with OLM for almost an year. They provide what they promise. Support is not only available 24 hours a day seven days a week but technicians are friendly and supportive as well. Try them out, you won’t regret it.

  16. Kia Says:

Looking at the comments, I felt compelled to add my own, particularly considering how long I’ve been a customer of OLM’s — since 2002 (I actually didn’t know about this separate ’serveraday.com’ website until recently, though — their main site is http://www.olm.net).

I can honestly and wholeheartedly say that I have NEVER had any major issues with OLM. My uptime has nearly been 100% for all of those years, and they have NEVER raised my rate (I still have a nice deal from back then for my needs, though who knows, I might upgrade in the near future).

For the very FEW times there has ever been a problem, these folks have a professional incident/problem ticket system and their tech folks will get back to you very quickly.

I’ve checked around over the years, and have never felt compelled to change web hosting companies. Not only are the deals (for what you get) not as good, but in my experience with people I know using different web hosting companies, they’ve always had at least a few more problems than I have and have had far less ‘responsive’ tech assistance.

For the record, nobody paid me to post this, nor even asked or requested me to — I don’t work for OLM, nor do I know any of them (for more than the very brief times there has been an issue, which hasn’t been in AGES).

But I wanted to add my own comment, after seeing other comments here, considering the very good service I’ve received over the years.

I agree with others — try them out — I’d be shocked if you regretted it. Seriously.

  17. Ian Says:

I’d love to see some servers with more firepower (specifically RAM and HDD space) show up on serveraday! I currently have one of these $20/mo deals and would love to upgrade!

  18. Kenneth Says:

    NOOOOOOOO I MISSED IT!

  19. Orphaned Says:

Any specials for those affected by today/yesterday’s HyperVM exploit at Vaserv?

  20. servnerv Says:

Can I bring in my own Windows license and not pay monthly?

  21. Matt-Serveraday Says:

Orphaned - We can throw in a FREE 100mbit port on today’s server. However, soon, VERY SOON, we will be releasing a full line of XEN virtual private servers.. plus a ton of other new goodies!

Servnerv - Unfortunately, you can not. You would need to use our Microsoft licensing.

  22. Matt-Serveraday Says:

For everyone looking for a Virtual Private Server, Check out OLM.net’s new offerings and our brand new line of Virtual Private Server’s hosted on the popular XEN platform.

    Plans starting at only $10.95/month.

    FREE Setup!!

    CentOS and Ubuntu

We will DOUBLE the bandwidth on all orders today!!!

  23. A.C. Says:

    Matt,

Is OLM no longer offering Parallels Pro with its shared hosting accounts? It looks like it’s just cPanel now. Are there plans to remove Parallels from the dedicated servers, too, or will that stay?

  24. Matt-Serveraday Says:

    Hi A.C.,

We did switch our shared hosting to cPanel due to the large number of requests. However, we are still offering cPanel, Parallels Pro and our newly added DirectAdmin with our dedicated and virtual servers.

  25. Lone Says:

Finely you guys offer DirectAdmin! :)

  26. A.C. Says:

    Matt,

DirectAdmin isn’t listed on the purchase page here on ServerADay… what is the pricing for it? It looks quite intriguing, especially with the built-in ticket system, etc.

  27. Matt-Serveraday Says:

    A.C.,

We are adding DirectAdmin to the order forms today, it will be available for $5.00/month.

  28. Lone Says:

<3 DirectAdmin i Been running it on my SAD server for a year now but had to get my own license 25$/month!! (ouch!).. Nice to see I can get it on my next SAD order.

Btw Like the new SAD listing format Matt :)

  29. A.C. Says:

Matt, is there a domain limit or is it unlimited?

  30. A.C. Says:

And what happened to siteMadeEasy for FREE? Why did you remove that?

  31. Lone Says:

A.C. DirectAdmin is unlimited domains (only license you can get for DirectAdmin)

  32. Matt-Serveraday Says:

    A.C,

PlusMail was running on FC5 and until we can move it over to CentOS, we decided to add DirectAdmin for a lower-cost alternative and recommendations from customers.

Has everyone checked out our new VPS offerings!!! All VPS orders today will automatically be upgraded to the next plan for FREE!

Also, any feedback is welcome on the NEW OLM.net, we want to keep working to offer you the best of everything!

  33. A.C. Says:

Does anyone have feedback regarding DirectAdmin versus Parallels/Ensim? Parallels has its quirks but it is incredibly secure and relatively space-efficient… but DirectAdmin is super-cheap. Any thoughts as to the benefits of one over the other?

  34. Lone Says:

A.C. I have used them all, I personally love DirectAdmin hands down.. its one of - if not the - lightest and to the point Control Panel out. It has no lame domain limits and has a robust DNS management system, Easy to navigate around the interface. Upgrades are almost painless. You can upgrade php/mysql/apache on your own with latest version *without* waiting for the “Compatible” or “Supported” or “Modified” version from the maker of the control panel. Security on DirectAdmin is great, again the easiest security add-on for any panel is to change its default management Port that knocks you off some/most common exploit scans because they have to port scan you to find the right port first. DirectAdmin runs quick and stable on low spec servers and VPS as well.. Its good all around, I have run it on Dual Xeon servers and low end mini VPS’s.

    DirectAdmin - Hands Down.

I even break down and Pay full Price for it when I Cant get it where I want it! <3 OLM & ServerADay for getting it finaly!! <3

  35. A.C. Says:

@Lone: by “security” I meant security between sites, i.e. users from site1 can’t mess anything up for users from site2. Parallels is great about that - it uses a full chroot setup which entirely isolates individual sites from one another. It’s also lean because it populates each site’s required files (in /usr, /lib, /var, and /etc) using hardlinks rather than duplicating everything for each site. How does DirectAdmin compare in those regards?

FWIW, you can upgrade php, mysql, and apache on a Parallels machine without waiting for anything from Parallels - Parallels does not customize those RPMs and you can upgrade them without worry. I’ve done this on the one CentOS5 server I’m using without problems.

The primary reason I’d think of switching to DirectAdmin is for cost, unless it has particular features not available on Parallels Pro that I really need… right now, I can’t think of any, which is why I’m asking. But the cost issue is substantial - $5/mo versus $12-$40/mo is a BIG deal for me.

  36. A.C. Says:

    Matt, Kim:

OK, here’s a question. Your BASIC shared webhosting is only $5.95/mo and includes UNLIMITED disk space, bandwidth, and domains. Yet, the dedicated servers only include 2500GB bandwidth and obviously much more limited disk space. Your VPS plans are even more restrictive!

Since we’re already paying a premium for the dedicated server, why is it that the cheapest shared plan gets more disk space and bandwidth than we do?

(I’m not actually even approaching the limits of either one on my server, but I just have to ask…)

  37. Lone Says:

A.C. every host you find will have way cheaper shared hosting plans than VPS or Servers with same specs.. Hosting plans dont get full shell access to the system to do what they want with.. Shared hosting plans you will get in trouble for a script that is very cpu or memory intense.. Share hosting is more restrictive over all.. reason its cheaper is because not everyone needs that much bandwidth or diskspace so overselling and offer resources for shared hosting is easier, when you approach the limits or higher than normal clients your moved to a bigger server..

  38. John Says:

Can FreeBSD be used instead of CentOS for Directadmin?

I’m looking to lock in a contract on something for a year, but would want more than the 160 gig drive and a 100 mbit port. Any chance for a server meeting those specs for the price of today or less?
